What are the tools for cleaning jewelry? How to clean?

1. Brush.

Having a toothbrush at hand is very convenient. Suggest using detergent to clean jewelry. Fine particle toothpaste can be used for fine particle toothpaste, which has a slight cleaning effect, but may cause small scratches on the surface. It is not recommended to use it on plated jewelry. Do not brush delicate jewelry such as pearls.

Actually, a toothbrush paired with toothpaste is also very useful, which can be understood as a reinforced version of a soft brush. Different varieties of toothpaste can affect the effectiveness, and particle free toothpaste/transparent toothpaste can be used to clean most jewelry. Particles containing them will leave some traces similar to crabapple powder on the metal, which can damage the surface of some hard gemstones and organic gemstones at the bottom, but it is also beneficial for old silver jewelry or antiques. There is a type of toothpaste with particularly thick particles that must be used carefully. It has a good cleaning effect, but may brush out matte metal surfaces.

Electric toothbrushes and facial brushes are two stable options for cleaning jewelry.

2. Wipe the silver cloth.

Silver cloth itself contains small abrasives, which is equivalent to re polishing. More convenient, it can only clean large areas with light oxidation, and the accumulated oxidation effect over the years is very weak.

3. Haitang powder.

Actually, it’s delicate calcium carbonate powder. Fine polish the surface to remove oxidation.

4. Apply silver paste.

Due to the nature of the paste, it is difficult to clean the details. But when used to wipe antiques, it can moderately preserve the feeling of antiquity. Non silver products are invalid.
5. Wash silver water.
The reduction of silver oxidation occurs through chemical reactions. I usually use Conoiseurs. The silver washing water is very thorough in cleaning the details, and the chain can also be very clean, with almost no dead corners. The coating is undamaged and the cleaning effect is good. Some gold-plated silver jewelry may have brownish blue stripes over time, and the best effect is to wash it with silver water. However, the reaction between silver washing water and old sulfur will cause the entire old part to turn yellow, making it difficult to wash off, so do not touch old silver jewelry. Silver washing water can also damage the surface of pearls, and organic gemstones should not be touched. If necessary, dip a fine pen into a small area without touching the pearl, and rinse immediately.

Silver washing water has different reactions to different proportions of silver, and some silver jewelry may appear slightly yellow on the surface after being washed and left for a period of time. Wipe with silver cloth or crabapple powder.

6. Polishing strip.

Actually, it is a polishing strip used for nail trimming, which cannot handle details, but it also has an effect on fine scratches on the surface. The long-term oxidation effect is also good and can be used in conjunction with ultrasonic cleaning machines.

7. Household ultrasound.

The ultrasound used for jewelry cleaning is the kind that washes glasses, which is very convenient. The ultrasonic effect is very good and can be paired with detergents. Jewelry with good stability can be paired with glass water. Fashion jewelry often uses imitation pearls and metal coatings, and it is not recommended to use ultrasound as it may cause destructive consequences. The pearl layer on the surface of the imitation pearl will peel off as a whole. For gemstones, ultrasound may cause cracking in varieties with more cracks. Coral is not suitable for use. Old silver jewelry cannot shake with new silver jewelry as it will become dirty.
